Research Quant Design and Sampling

The availability of components such as the comparison of the methods by researchers in order to provide evidence of the inequalities in health support the conclusion that the experimental research design was used while the use of Natural Policy Experiment that lacks the limitation to determine the validity of those under study makes the quasiexperimental design possible in this. Additionally, there is the use of probability sampling in the study that has brought about the aspect of the research design being random thus making it hard to consider the researchers bias as compared to the non-probability sampling. This is because of the availability of the random assignment that made it possible for those people living in the areas of the town labelled as the lower educated and from the deprived areas of the town access medical care free of charge. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of probability sampling made it possible for the researchers to hold biases to the study thus strengthening the study design.

To achieve fewer hospital readmissions of CHF patients after enrollment led to the conduction of a study to find out the probability of a heart failure after being discharged from the hospital. The availability of a comparison group in the study made it fall under the category of quasiexperiment research design and also used the non-probability sampling method as not every member had an equal chance of selection. The main advantage of the non-probability approach was that it helps reduce the number of participants in the study that simplifying the whole exercise. However, this method has the disadvantage of skewing the results in the favor of the researchers since they even never discussed how the selection of the participants was conducted. However, the reduction of the readmission rate to 8% through the use of the non-probability method in 30 days as compared to 26% for the comparison group made the healthcare organization save money to pay for other programs in the organization.
